Jakarta — Ahead of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming rush, the government is accelerating repairs to damaged and potholed roads at a number of strategic locations. This measure is being taken to ensure that people’s journeys back to their hometowns are safer and more comfortable.
Currently, sections of the main homecoming routes are a priority for the Ministry of Public Works (PU). One of the main focuses is the North Coast (Pantura) route in Java, which serves as the lifeline for homecoming travelers every year.
The Ministry of Public Works emphasized that this work is part of the preparations for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr travel season, with an ambitious target of “Zero Potholes” by H-10.
This target is not without reason. Vehicle volume on the Pantura is expected to surge again, as in previous years. Therefore, the government wants to ensure that road conditions are in top shape before the peak of the homecoming traffic occurs.
Along the Pantura route, road repairs are also being carried out on the Cilamaya Bridge. Located in Subang Regency, West Java, this bridge serves as a crucial hub for both heavy-duty and private vehicle traffic.
“We have carried out road and bridge maintenance work on the Karawang, Cikampek, and Pamanukan sections, specifically on the Cilamaya Bridge at KM 107,” said one of the Ministry of Public Works officials on site in his report on Thursday (2/26).
As part of routine maintenance of national roads, the Ministry of Public Works has carried out repairs to the road surface on the Cilamaya Bridge using scraping and resurfacing methods.
