Establishment of the Presidential Communications Office
Under the administration of President Prabowo Subianto, which commenced in October 2024, the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) was established through Presidential Regulation No. 82 of 2024. The institution is tasked with overseeing communication within the presidential administration and is led by Hasan Nasbi.
Transition to Bakom RI
In response to the need for stronger, more systematic, and wider-reaching government communication, President Prabowo Subianto issued Presidential Regulation Number 96 of 2025, which amended and expanded the mandate of the Presidential Communication Office into the Government Communication Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (Bakom RI).
On September 17, 2025, President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated Angga Raka Prabowo as the Head of the Government Communication Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (Bakom RI) at the State Palace in Jakarta. This transformation marked a new chapter in Indonesia’s government communication, establishing a more integrated and coordinated system. Beyond serving the presidential institution, Bakom RI is tasked with synchronizing communication across ministries, government agencies, and regional governments throughout Indonesia.
Leadership Transition
On April 27, 2026, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, officially inaugurated Muhammad Qodari (M. Qodari) as the Head of the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom RI). The inauguration ceremony was held solemnly at the State Palace in Jakarta.
M. Qodari’s appointment as the new Head of Bakom RI was formally established through Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 52 of 2026.
Leadership Transition
On October 2nd, 2026, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, officially inaugurated Syahganda Nainggolan as the Head of the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom RI). The inauguration ceremony was held solemnly at the State Palace in Jakarta.
Syahganda Nainggolan’s appointment as the new Head of Bakom RI was formally established through Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 106/P of 2026.
